This Emergency Warning is being issued for Mulgrave, Wheelers Hill.

  •  There is a Petrol Tanker fire on the Monash freeway between Springvale road and Wellington road. 
Do not enter the area - it is extremely dangerous. Anyone located south of the Monash freeway between Springvale road and Wellington road should leave immediately. 
Traffic along the Monash Freeway in both directions in the area has now been stopped
What you should do: 

Leave now: 
  • When you leave remember to take your pets, mobile phone and medications.
  • Travel to the home of family or friends who are away from the warning area.
  • Avoid travelling to Mulgrave via the Monash freeway.

If you are travelling: 
  • If you are away from home do not return.
  • If you are currently driving you should shut all windows, turn off your air conditioning and immediately leave the area.

Emergency Services may not be able to help you if you choose to stay.

If you stay, seek shelter indoors: 
  • If you are unable to leave you should move indoors.
  • Close all windows and doors.
Impacts in your area: 
  • The following roads are closed: Monash freeway between Ferntree Gully and Wellington roads.  On ramps to the Monash Freeway at Wellington road and Springvale road.
  • Traffic in the area will be affected.
  • Check the VicRoads website (traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au) for road closures 
  • You will see smoke to the south of this area
