The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for people in Western Port, Inner East, Outer East and parts of Mornington Peninsula, South East and Northern Local Warning Areas..

  • destructive winds, heavy rainfall, large hailstones and flash flooding are likely.  
  • This thunderstorm is are very dangerous and may cause damage to houses and result in dangerous travel conditions.
If you are located in Western Port, Inner East, Outer East and parts of Mornington Peninsula, South East and Northern Local Warning Areas, you are in danger. You should immediately move indoors to stay safe.
What you should do:
  • Be aware of potential hazards caused by the severe thunderstorm, including widespred debris, severely damaged buildings, large trees down and fallen power lines.
  • Large hail is expected. Stay inside and away from windows.
  • Follow your emergency plan, if you have one.

If you are outside:
  • You should try to shelter in a safe place indoors.
  • If you cannot shelter indoors, stay well away from trees, drains, low lying areas and floodwater.
  • Be prepared for flash flooding.

If you are driving:
  • You should try to shelter in a safe place indoors.
  • Be aware of very dangerous and unpredictable road conditions.

You should stay informed by listening to emergency broadcasters and monitoring warnings.

Contact family members and neighbours to ensure they are aware of the situation, if safe to do so.
