This Watch & Act message is being issued for Killawarra, Waldara, Wangandary.

  • There is a bushfire at KILLAWARRA that is not yet under control.
  • The bushfire is travelling in a south-easterly direction towards Wangaratta.
  • Firefighters have been unable to stop the fire and it has now crossed Warby Tower Road and is moving towards Kensington Park Estate.
Don't wait, leaving now is the safest option - conditions may change and get worse very quickly. Emergency Services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.
What you should do: 
  • When you leave remember to take your pets, mobile phone and medications.
  • Travel to the home of family or friends that are away from the warning area or to Wangaratta.
  • Keep the roads clear so emergency services can respond.
  • If you are away from home do not return.
  • Monitor conditions for changes in the situation.
Impacts in your area: 
  • The following roads are closed:
  • Warby Tower Road
  • Wangaratta-Yarrawonga Road, south of Boweya Road.
  • A wind change is expected around 4PM, which will cause the fire to change directions towards the Ovens River Flats.
