This Flash Flood Emergency Warning is being issued for Wedderburn.
  • Very dangerous conditions are being caused by flash flooding in Wedderburn Township.
  • 120mm of rain has fallen in under 24 hours.
  • Flash flooding is impacting all roads in the Town and surrounding roads in all directions. 
  • 2 Rescues and a dozen requests for help have been received by the SES since about 7am. 
  • You can stay safe by avoiding flooded and low-lying areas.
  • Floodwater can be very deep, rise quickly and move fast.
  • Be aware that heavy rainfall may also increase the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
If you are located in Wedderburn, you are in danger. You should immediately move indoors and shelter, away from floodwater. Do not enter floodwater.
It is too late to leave. You should seek shelter indoors, away from floodwater.

What you should do:

  • Floodwater is dangerous - never enter floodwater.
  • If you are in a life threatening emergency or if you need rescuing, call Triple Zero (000). For emergency assistance from the SES, call 132 500.

If you are inside:
  • Stay inside and monitor conditions.
  • If floodwater comes inside, move to a higher point such as a kitchen bench or second story.
  • Follow your emergency plan, if you have one.
  • Contact family members and neighbours to ensure they are aware of the situation, if safe to do so.

If you are outside:
  • You should try to shelter in a safe place indoors.
  • If you cannot shelter indoors, stay well away from trees, drains, low lying areas and floodwater.

If you are driving:
  • Floodwater is dangerous - do not drive through floodwater.
  • Find alternative travel routes if roads or underpasses are flooded.
  • Be aware of road hazards such as mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
  • If driving conditions are dangerous, pull over in a safe location away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater.
Impacts in your area:
  • Wedderburn is isolated.
  • Homes and buildings in the area will be flooded.
  • Essential services could be lost in Wedderburn.
  • Roads or bridges have been closed in all directions
  • Snakes, spiders and rats may try to find shelter in your home.
  • All roads are closed due to flooding.
