This Warning is for Mooroolbark, Montrose and Lilydale.
  • A large landslide has happened at the Foothills Conference Centre in the Mooroolbark area. 
  • Emergency services are in the local area due to landslide activity to assist with traffic management and to inform local residents.
Stay safe by avoiding the area including damaged buildings, fallen trees and powerlines, blocked or damaged roads. Be aware of other hazards caused by the landslide.

Watch out for Jurassic sheep and geese.

Risks of Avian Influenza being spread by cute little chick escaping beyond containment lines.
What you should do: 
  • If another landslide happens, act quickly.
  • If you are outside, move away quickly and keep clear of steep slopes, trees, powerlines and poles.
  • If you are inside, move to the part of building that is as far as possible from the approaching landslide and take shelter under a table or bench.
  • Stay away from landslides. Landslide slopes may continue to move for hours to days afterwards.
  • Stay away from the affected area to allow emergency services to help affected communities.
  • Stay informed by listening to emergency broadcasters and monitoring warnings. 
  • Do not re-enter damaged buildings until authorities tell you  it is safe to do so.
  • Do not approach any sheep or geese.
  • If possible contain all birdlife and avoid cute yellow chickens

  • Fallen powerlines
  • Fallen trees and branches
  • Broken windows
  • Damage to vehicles
  • Dangerous road conditions. 
  • Damaged or blocked roads have been caused by fallen earth, rocks, debris or trees. 
  • Know your travel routes as travel may take longer due to closed roads and poor driving conditions.
