This Emergency Warning is for Mount Dandenong Tourist Rd, Kalorama and Inverness Rd, Mount Evelyn.
  • A medium landslide has happened in the Scenic Cres and Mount Dandenong Tourist Rd area.
  • Significant cracking has been seen above the site meaning a risk of further landslides happening. 
If you are in the area of Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd between Browns and Inverness Rd, you are in danger. Avoid the area and stay away from the landslide.
What you should do: 
  • Act quickly to stay safe, especially if another landslide might happen. 
  • If you are away from home, stay away. Stay away from the landslide - the slope may continue to move for hours or days afterwards. 
  • Take your pets, medications, identification, mobile phone and charger with you Stay informed by listening to emergency broadcasters and monitoring warnings. 
If more landslides happen, stay safe by taking the following actions. 

If you become trapped under debris: 
  • Do not light a match.
  • Stay as still as possible and cover your mouth with a handkerchief or clothing.
  • Tap on a pipe or wall so rescuers can find you. Shout only as a last resort.
Inside:
  • Move to the part of building that is as far as possible from the approaching landslide and take shelter under a table or bench.
Driving:
  • Travel using recommended routes.
  • Know your travel routes as travel may take longer due to closed roads and poor driving conditions.
Outdoors:
  • Move away quickly and keep clear of steep slopes, trees, powerlines and poles.

    Mount Dandenong Tourist Rd between Inverness and Browns Rds has been closed, as well as Lookout Rd, Scenic Cres and Blackiston Trk.
